Exams
When it starts, you stop. Your life literally stops. No fun, entertainment, social life, leisure. Okay, maybe not exactly STOP, but you feel super guilty if you don't abandon all these things cause you only feel very very obliged to STUDY and that's all! MUG, MUG, MUG. That's all you have to do so that you won't feel bad about anything.Seriously, if you don't feel stressed, you'll think that your not putting enough effort to study even though you've learned faster than what your teacher's teaching. Like now, whilst I'm typing this post, I have my mother at my side nagging about me using the computer while this is my O level year.
I can actually see no pros in exams besides the fact that you can see how much you've learned in the year. Please do tell me if you can think of any pros to a person's life. But cons oh my, I can list it down for you to see.
1. Your life stops (as said above)
2. Drains up a lot of your time... no... MUCH of your time. About a year...
3. Get stressed out. Can lead to cancer or suicide.
4. After going through the top 3 points, after the exams for the rest of your life, you won't even use 1/2 information you have so intently memorized for that 5-10 pieces of paper.
5. The exam format seems err...Useless... Especially when one will not work for that subject.
Let me explain, for English, you only need to excel in Comprehension if you want to become a editor, or some book reading job. For composition, only if you want to become a journalist or editor. Except for oral, the rest seems redundant for other types of jobs. WHAT ABOUT MATHS? WHO THE HECK WILL USE CUMULATIVE FREQUENCY, TRANSFORMATION, INDICES?! REALLY?! And chemistry, who will use what they learnt in the topic of redox or mole concept? For chinese, what's with the passage that requires you to fill in the blanks? I doubt any job requires that! I'm only listing down the subjects which are the most important subjects needed.
Is the education system really preparing us for our future jobs?? Thank the heavens for Polytechnics. At least the government actually uses a portion of their brains. And how fortunate for schools who go through Integrated Program.
Maybe students would not be so stressed out if they didn't have EVERYTHING or EVERYONE howling at them to study. Parents, teachers, Government, school admission requirements. It's all just so aggravating. Then suicides happen and people go, "why do students kill themselves? LIFE IS GREAT" Ahem.
Look on the bright side, people not in Kok's class, she makes you feel like your life is at it's end. Like you don't want to carry on anymore. Threatening us every now and then saying that we won't be hired and won't be able to live life well. What Bullshit.
I told my sister that and she told me to plug my ears when Kok is "preaching".
All of us can relate to this topic which I obviously am so flustered about.
Exams exams exams... I really really hate them.
